The Kootenay ICE finished up their eastern road trip with a pair of losses to the Brandon Wheat Kings.

The ICE lost 5-4 in overtime on Jan. 18 and then 7-5 on Jan. 19 at Westoba Place.

Brand Ginnell, Chase Hartje, Jaeger White and Davis Murray all scored in the overtime loss, but it wasn’t enough. Goaltender Jesse Makaj made 32 saves on 37 shots throughout the night.

On the second night of the doubleheader, forward Cole Muir skated in his 100th Western Hockey League regular season game.

Over the course of his WHL career, Muir has played for the ICE and the Regina Pats adding 12 goals, 14 assists for 26 points.

It was a family affair for defenceman Carson Lambos who recorded his first WHL goal and played against his older brother defenceman Jonny Lambos.

In the loss, White added two goals and Jakin Smallwood and Austin Schellenberg also potted goals.

Goaltender Curtis Meger stopped 27 of the 33 shots he faced throughout the night.

Forward Connor McClennon sat out both of the games and was listed as injured.

White finished the doubleheader with three goals on the weekend to add to his team lead of 20 goals on the season. While newly acquired defenceman Hartje had a goal and three assists during the weekend against his former team.

Hartje was acquired from the Wheat Kings at the trade deadline in exchange for a third-round draft pick.

The ICE are currently 10-30-7-1 on the 2018/19 season and finished their six-game road trip with a 2-3-1 record.

After six games on the road, the ICE are back to Western Financial Place to take on the Prince Albert Raiders on Jan. 26, puck drop 7 p.m.

During the game, ICE players will be bringing awareness to anti-bullying. The annual Pink the Rink game will see players wearing special superhero jerseys. Fans are also being encouraged to wear pink to the game to show their support.
