Patrik Toze named PACWEST Male Volleyball Athlete of the Week

COTR Avalanche outside hitter earned Week 7 accolade after impressive performance in Abbotsford road trip.

The PACWEST announced on Tuesday that College of the Rockies Avalanche volleyball player Patrik Toze had been named their Week 7 Male Volleyball Athlete of the Week.

The sophomore Australian outside hitter was outstanding in the team’s four-game road trip last week, putting up a total of 26 digs, 44 kills, three blocks, and six aces.

Toze led the team to three wins over the course of the four matches against the Columbia Bible College Bearcats and University of Fraser Valley Cascades, including delivering an ace serve for the game-winning point to upset UFV in their last game.

A consistent attacker for the Avs, Toze has averaged 2.8 kills per set so far this year and has been instrumental in the team coming out of their first semester play with a 6-6 record.

This season will be Toze’s last with the Avalanche and he has already committed to playing next year with the Mount Royal University Cougars in the CIS.

The Avs are currently in a month-long break period in between school semesters and do not play again until January 6 when they face the Vancouver Island University Mariners at home. VIU is the top team in the PACWEST standings and should provide a good test for the emerging Avs men.
