Kootenay Warriors spring hockey teams win big

The Kootenay Warriors spring hockey program had a winning weekend on April 22 and 23.

The 2005 Warriors attended the Kozak Cup in Cochrane, AB competing in the ‘04/05 Peewee division. In a thrilling come-from-behind victory, the team beat the host P3 Beasts 5-4 to win the championship.

The ‘05 group was fortunate to utilize a handful of ‘04 born players to fill out their roster and they added to the depth of this hard working and very deserving championship team. The 2007 Kootenay Warriors were also in Cochrane and captured third place and the bronze medal in their division.

The 2006 Warriors Team captured gold in tournament action in Kamloops over the weekend, with a 5-1 win against the host Kamloops Jr. Blazers on Sunday at the Twin Rivers Cup. The ‘06 Warriors snuck by the Kelowna Heat in the semi-final 5-3 to get to the gold medal game.

The Kootenay Warriors teams are made up of players from Cranbrook, Kimberley, Invermere, Canal Flats, Fairmont, Fernie and Creston. The Warriors short spring season wraps up in early May.
