The goaltending carousel in Cranbrook is no more.
The Kootenay Ice reduced its goaltending contingent Thursday afternoon, releasing 19-year-old Keelan Williams, leaving 17-year-old Declan Hobbs to back up 20-year-old workhorse Wyatt Hoflin.
Williams, a 6-foot-2, 183-pound native of Calgary, was 1-1-0 with a 6.00 goals-against average and .857 save percentage in two appearances this season.
An upbeat personality around the rink at Western Financial Place, Williams lone victory of the campaign came Oct. 2 as he backstopped the Ice to a 5-2 win over the visiting Spokane Chiefs.
Williams joined the Ice prior to the 2014-15 campaign, beating out Jayden Sittler for role of backup to Hoflin.
In 13 career WHL appearances, Williams registered a record of 2-6-0 with a 5.01 GAA and .862 SP.
Prior to joining the Ice, Williams spent the 2013-14 campaign with the Okotoks Oilers of the Alberta Junior Hockey League.
With the release of Williams, young Hobbs -- a 6-foot, 178-pound native of Saskatoon -- has earned his first full-time role with the Ice.
Hobbs made two guest appearances (one start and one in relief) with the Ice in 2014-15, going 0-0-1 with a 3.98 GAA and .875 SP.
In 2015-16, Hobbs is 0-1-0 with a 5.25 GAA and .865 SP.
The Ice roster is now carrying 24 players (two goaltenders, 10 defencemen and 12 forwards).
The Ice are in action Friday night when they visit the Medicine Hat Tigers (7:30 p.m.) before returning home to host the Prince Albert Raiders Saturday (7 p.m.) at Western Financial Place.
