Second-year College of the Rockies Avalanche outside hitter Adriel Goodman was honoured by the PACWEST as the league's 'Female Volleyball Athlete of the Week' after a pair of top-notch home games against the VIU Mariners over the weekend.

Goodman made a huge impact for the Avs in their stunning upset of the top-ranked VIU Mariners on Friday with a performance that included 13 digs, 18 kills, and two ace serves in five sets.

She followed that up with another quality match against VIU on Saturday, where she managed 11 digs, 19 kills, two blocks, and an ace in the Avs 3-1 loss.

COTR's women's head coach, John Swanson, singled Goodman out as one of the biggest reasons the Avs were successful in Week 8.

"Setting the quicker tempo aside, I think what was effective was that Adriel Goodman was phenomenal this entire weekend," Swanson said after Saturday's game. "[Her] 19 kills [on Friday] were incredible."

Goodman has been a standout player for the Avs in her sophomore year, and the 6'1 product of Nakusp, BC has averaged 2.45 kills per set, 1.93 digs per set, and has started all 14 matches the team has played so far this year.

The Avs are back in action this Friday as they take on the Camosun Chargers on their home court at 6:00 p.m.
