The fourth annual Cranbrook Eagles Charity Boxing Challenge Event took place on Saturday, November 5 at Eagles Hall.

Organizer Tom White believes the boxing showcase raised over $30,000 which puts the event close to the $120,000 mark over the course of four years.

The night included fights between youth and amateur boxers from Cranbrook, Calgary, Nanaimo and Nelson, followed by local residents trading blows in the second half of the event.

The main event of the first half saw Nanaimo’s Provincial Champion Ivy Richardson win a unanimous decision over Alberta Provincial Champion Jessica Sparrow.

The charity portion was headlined by a bout between Steve Mercandelli and Al Wheaton.

“This community is so awesome ... the people that continually step up donate and open their wallets is just so incredible,” said White. “I’m very proud to be a part of this [and I also want to say to] the volunteers from the club a big thanks [for] another successful  event.”
