A trio of archers continue to keep the East Kootenay on the national archery map.
Darby Dean, Brittany Johnson and Adam Pitney are returning home with a pile of accolades from the 2015 Canadian National Archery Championships in Winnipeg.
Heading up the trio is Johnson, a native of Cranbrook, who was named Archery Canada Junior Female Athlete of the Year in addition to claiming a silver medal.
Dean, a native of Kimberley, claimed two gold medals at the competition while Pitney, a native of Cranbrook, snagged two silver medals to round out a strong weekend for the crew.
“Once again these young archers showed the archery world what the Kootenays can do,” wrote coach Elaine Johnson via email. “All three archers have been working hard to achieve top Canadian ranking and are pleased with their results.”
The trio wished to extend their gratitude and thanks to all of their coaches for their roles in helping them find success.
The 2015 Canadian National Archery Championships were hosted from Aug. 4 to 9 by Interlake Archers in Winnipeg.
