The College of the Rockies Avalanche women’s volleyball team announced on Monday that Brooke Lightburn, a 5'6" libero from Jaffray, BC, has committed to the program for next season.

Lightburn, a member of the MBSS Wild senior girls team, has been playing club volleyball with EKVC (East Kootenay Volleyball Club) since she was in U14 and has also played in the 2013 Baden Cup, 2014 Summer Games (indoor volleyball), 2015 National Team Challenge Cup (as a member of Team BC) and the 2016 Beach Volleyball Summer Games.

According to the Avs release, Lightburn's biggest volleyball accomplishment in her playing career so far is being a member of Team BC for the past two years.  In her first year on Team BC she was the first female in five years to make Team BC from the East Kootenays.

"[I’m] excited to start [my] first year of post-secondary volleyball at College of the Rockies,” Lightburn said in the release. “ I have loved the game of volleyball since I was in elementary school and still do after all of this time."

Lightburn said she chose College of the Rockies because "it fulfills what she needs for education and it is close to home."

Brooke will be looking to take the Business program at COTR.
