Youth recognized at Cranbrook Canada Day

Canada Day Citizenship Awards presented to students who, through their efforts, have made Cranbrook and their schools better places.

An annual Cranbrook tradition is the presentation of the Canada Day Citizenship Awards to deserving youth, and on Wednesday, July 1, at the Moir Park Canada Day celebrations, Acting Cranbrook Mayor Norma Blissett handed out the awards to nine students — three from Laurie Middle School, three from Parkland and three from Mount Baker Secondary. The students so honoured have, through their efforts, made Cranbrook and their schools better places.

After the on-stage presentations, the mayor and students gathered for a group photo. Left to right: Alyssa Grocutt (Mt. Baker), Lex Ritson (Mt. Baker), Andrew Menning (Laurie), Mikey Stambulic (Laurie), Tyler Carter (Laurie), Justine Gauthier (Parkland), Anna Ruoss (Parkland) and Acting Mayor Norma Blissett. Unable to attend the ceremony were Jasmine Beaulac (Parkland) and Alexis Shuffler (Mt. Baker).
