New addition to hospital chaplaincy program

Rev. Bob Jones to join the Spiritual Care Program (hospital chaplaincy) at the end of December.

The Spiritual Care Program (hospital chaplaincy) at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital is getting a new addition as Robert (Bob) Jones will be joining the team on December 28.

Rev. Jones was the pastor at First Baptist Church in Cranbrook from 1992 - 2002 and has recently been serving churches in Calgary, Vancouver and Hong Kong on an interim basis.

"Bob's pastoral experience plus his servant's heart will make him a wonderful addition to the team," said Rev. Ron Foubister, chair of the EKRH's Spiritual Care Committee.  "He is known for his compassion and also his sense of humour - he is a kind, thoughtful and gentle man.  We are very proud of the team of chaplains who serve at EKRH.”

"I am really looking forward to serving in this manner," Jones said.  "I look forward to assisting in any way possible - and as anyone who has spent time with those who are sick will tell you, you discover just what is important in life and what isn't. It's a privilege to be a part of this thoughtful and competent chaplaincy team."

Jones will be joining chaplains Joanne Wiens, Jody Hackett and Laird Siemens to make a four-person team.  The Spiritual Care Program has been providing spiritual care to patients, patients' families and staff at the EKRH for the last 11 years

"There is always a chaplain on call," Foubister said.
