Two full days of great hockey festivities, entertainment and special guests, including hosts Tara Slone and Ron MacLean, will descend on Cranbrook as Rogers Hometown Hockey rolls into the community – Saturday, February 18 and Sunday, Feb. 19.

Fort Steele Heritage Town will be especially featured during the weekend. Rogers Sportsnet is showing up Saturday morning for a video shoot of winter activities — in particular skating on Fort Steele's outdoor rink — portions of which will be aired the next day, Sunday, during the nationwide broadcast of the Toronto Maple Leafs/Carolina Hurricanes game.

Fort Steele is putting out the word — come out and take part in this family-friendly event between 10 a.m. and noon. If you want to come out earlier to get onto the skating rink, that's also fine. For best television results, bring skates and sticks, and hit the ice.

The rink will be ready with a fresh new flood, with a bonfire beside it to warm up hands. The Fort Steele Cafe will have lunch available and hot drinks, and the bakery will be open with fresh baked goods. For non-skaters, the horse-drawn sleigh or wagon rides will be running, and folks can wander around the site to take in the marvels of Fort Steele Heritage Town in winter. Admission is by donation.
