Burn fund charity game tonight at Mount Baker school

Tonight is the 5th Annual McDonalds Wild Fire Basketball Challenge.

For the past few years the Cranbrook fire fighters have gone up against the Mount Baker Wild Girls Basketball Team in the annual McDonalds Wild Fire Basketball Challenge.

The charity match is tonight and Bill Munro, from Cranbrook Fire & Emergency Services, hopes everyone comes out to watch and support the B.C. Professional Fire Fighters Burn Fund.

“It’s a real fun event, and a fundraising event,” said Munro. “All proceeds go to the burn fund.”

He said they raised about $800 last year, and hope they can top that this year.

“We come down, have some laughs and usually dress up funny, wearing skirts and wigs or whatever,” he said.

There is also a hot dog and hamburger barbecue by donation. Entrance is also by donation.

“It’s a great family event — come down, have a hamburger and meet the girls basketball team and some of the fire fighters,” he said.

The game is tonight, April 9, at 6 p.m. in the Mount Baker Secondary School Gym.
