The 1935 moving truck that sits on top of Williams Moving and Storage is getting a new lease on life. On Tuesday afternoon it was lifted off by a heavy duty crane so that it can be given a refresh.

Cory Stepney, manager and owner of Williams Moving and Storage (Cranbrook) Ltd said that they purchased the truck in 1990. They built the box and turned it into a vintage moving truck.

“Now we’re bringing it down to redo it and make it look nice again,” he said.

The truck has been up there for at least 20 years. He said the first couple years it was put up and taken down relatively often.

“We bought it as an antique just to use it as a replica of what they use to use,” he said.  “Over the years, the weather has just taken its toll on it, so it’s time to take it down and redo it.”

He said the plan is to get started on the restoration over the winter and have it completed by the spring.

“We’ll use it for parades and things like that and then probably put it on the roof again,” he said.
