October 21, 1953 - February 19, 2019
Wayne moved with his family to Cranbrook in 1965 and fell in love with the countryside there. The mountains became his home for the next 53 years and he was thrilled to live amongst them.

He hunted, fished and camped as much as he could and made a living at the sawmill when needed.

While living almost all his adult life in the tiny town of Moyie, he made many friends and will be fondly remembered and missed by nearly all who remain.

His last decade was spent by the river where he could be found sitting on the porch listening to the frogs and watching the birds. Deer and the occasional bear graced his steps as well.

Wayne was predeceased by his parents and by the love of his life Donean. He is at peace at last and we can remember our gentle giant (sometimes a crazy and wild giant) with all the love that younger siblings hold for their oldest brother.

He is now the wind on the mountain and the wild bugle of the Elk. He is gone, but never forgotten by Donna (Don), Lyall (Stephanie), Wanda (Bruce), and Holly (Spud). He will be missed by many nieces and nephews and he will especially be missed by his daughters Melanie and Michelle and his grandsons Devon and Cory. Wayne was affectionately known as Grandpa Bang.

He requested no service; instead there will be a gathering of family and friends on the mountain in warmer months to send him on the wind.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in memory of Wayne to the Kootenay Wildlife Heritage Fund, P.O. Box 100, Kimberley B.C., V1A 2Y5.
