February 6, 1967 – January 22, 2021
Vicki-Lynn Anne Metters (nee Thingvold), resident of Lethbridge Alberta, formerly of Cranbrook BC, passed away suddenly on January 22, 2021 at the age of 53 years.
Vicki was born in Cranbrook BC on February 6, 1967 to Ward and Jeannette Thingvold. Soon after finishing high school at MBSS, she moved to the Lower Mainland where she started a career as well as a family.
Soon her and her new husband Kevin Metters would have two amazing boys, Jordan and Branden. She was always recognized as a hard worker and was hired by various companies with increasingly more responsibility, eventually ending up at the Chevron head office in downtown Vancouver.
Later she would open an Esquires coffee shop in north Surrey, eventually returning to her roots in Cranbrook, where the boys would continue the remainder of their school. There she was trained to be a Resident Care Aid, assisting the elderly in both Joseph Creek Village and the Dr F W Green Memorial Home.
Vicki loved to laugh, was always quick to forgive, and had the heart of a protector and a rescuer (she would be first on the scene in any situation without hesitation).
She also had a huge heart for animals, from her albino guinea pig when she was young, to her pet rat when she was not so young, and all the dogs, cats, and birds in between. Vicki was strong and courageous and was always able to somehow find a fragment of joy in the midst of her suffering. Now she can rest in continual joy. She will be dearly missed by the many of us who loved her. Until we see you again Vicki.
Vicki is survived by her children Jordan and Branden Metters, her parents Gordon and Jeannette Donald, and her brother Kevin Thingvold.
A commemorative service will be held sometime after March 31. If COVID restrictions are still in place, the service will be for close family members only.
Memories, stories, and condolences can be shared on her Memorial Facebook page.
