Verna passed away peacefully on December 27, 2021, at the age of 87 years.
Verna was a wonderful mother & grandmother, a tireless worker, homemaker, and provider for her large family. She loved nature & animals. Verna was an amazing and talented cook, who excelled at Ukrainian dishes. She was also extremely intelligent speaking two languages Ukrainian and English, and an artist creating beautiful paintings. Verna also loved to sing, whistle and yodel. She will be extremely missed.
Verna is survived by her sons Brad Couttie and Tim Couttie, her daughters Shawn Couttie, Kristi Couttie and Cherryl Reis, grandchildren Misty Couttie, Priscilla Pastachak, Hayden Anderson, Hannah Anderson and Sarah Anderson, her great grandchildren, and her brother Orest Pastachak.
She is predeceased by her husband Bill Couttie, her son Tom Pastachak and her grandson Tommy Pastachak.
There will be a Celebration of Life planned at a later date.
Memorial donations in honour of Verna can be made to the East Kootenay SPCA.
