July 29, 1939 - November 2, 2023
In Loving Memory ~
Mrs. Ursula Ella Jones of Vancouver, B.C., passed away into the presence of her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, on November 2, 2023, at the age of 84.
She is dearly missed by her husband, Gerald Bennett; son Dan (Alisa, Nicole, and Bradley) of Airdrie AB; daughter Shauna (Randy, Chuck, Cassie, Cori, Caity, and Carlie) of Woodbridge CA; son Steve (Nina, Emma) of Vancouver B.C.; sister Margrit (Stanley) of Kelowna B.C.; sister Verena (Frank) of Prince George B.C., as well as her many extended family members and friends.
Ursula was born on July 29, 1939, in Kefikon, Switzerland, and came to Canada in 1949. Her family settled in Wyndell, B.C., where she met and became the loving wife of Gerry Jones for nearly 47 years, who predeceased her on March 9, 2007.
They began their lives together in 1960 in Cranbrook, B.C., where she started to raise her family in 1961 (Dan). Shauna came along in 1963. Ursula spent the next ten (10) years, along with Gerry, leading couples to Christ through Entertaining With A Purpose (EWOP). Her last child, Steve, was born in 1973.
After the family was established, Ursula along with her husband Gerry began to embark on what was yet another significant layman's ministry, establishing Western Layman's Retreat, which ran annually for 25 years.
In 1988, Ursula, husband Gerry, and son Steve moved to Abbotsford, B.C. It was here that she was actively involved with ministries such as Ladies in Touch missions and Clothesline.
After Gerry's passing, she moved to Vancouver, B.C. She remarried Gerald Bennett in 2013. She continued to remain active in the inner city, giving her time and effort to ministries such as Grief Share and Oasis.
First and foremost, she loved her family and extended family. She was very proud of her eight (8) grandchildren and seven (7) great-grandchildren and their many talented accomplishments. Ursula was so looking forward to the arrival of her new two (2) grandchildren in January. There is nothing that gave her more joy than to spend time with her multi-generational family and fellowship with her many friends.
Ursula especially enjoyed listening to Southern Gospel Music and had made many trips to the Gospel Music Celebration in Red Deer, AB, that was held annually in July for a period of 14 straight years prior to the pandemic.
Ursula spent her life as an active member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance for over 50 years, and she dedicated her life being the hands and feet of Jesus, demonstrating His love for mankind all in His name in her shared desire to expand His kingdom on earth.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, November 17, 2023, at 2:00 pm at Sevenoaks Alliance Church, Abbotsford BC.
