October 12, 1993 - January 11, 2020
Tyler John Hayes, 26, passed away unexpectedly on January 11, 2020. Tyler was born and raised in Cranbrook and never had any desire to leave the area. He was truly going to spend the rest of his life living the Kootenay dream. He and Taylor were to be married in July and they intended to buy property out at Moyie, once he moved to full time status at Fording River Coal.
He really enjoyed driving truck up on the mountain. Tyler loved snowmobiling, hunting, camping, waterskiing, wake skating and hanging out with friends and family around a campfire. Tyler played house hockey and rep hockey while growing up and loved the camaraderie and physicality of the game. He never backed down from a fight. Tyler was a member of the 2007 Friendship hockey team that traveled to New Zealand and always considered his host family the Orrs actual family. Tyler will be forever missed by his family and his huge circle of multigenerational friends. Tyler was known as a kind, caring compassionate man.
Tyler is survived by: Grandparents John and Dolores Smith, Parents John and Bonnie Hayes, Brother Justin Hayes, Fiancee Taylor Lauritsen, Uncle Kevin Smith, Cousins David and Jenevieve, the Orrs, His snowmobiling family and "The Boys"
Tyler was predeceased by Grandparents John and Edna Hayes.
