In Remembrance ~
After a brief battle with cancer, we sadly say good bye to Teresa. She was taken from us on the 7th of February 2025. 76 years young. Teresa, born in Italy, to her beloved parents Salvatore and Raffaela Vellone, who predeceased her, along with her Sister & Brother-in-law, Grace & Bill Kozak, and Brother-in-law Alan Weber. Leaving behind her siblings Rita Weber and Nazz & Carol Vellone. Her 3 children, Barry & Shannon, Brent & Marie, and Ashley & Scott. Her grandchildren Gavin, Kohen, Lennon, and Henley who brought her tremendous joy through the years. Teresa had several nieces and nephews.
Many who have stayed close to her throughout her life, and continued to support her during her battle, she loved them dearly and enjoyed sharing in their lives and hearing the stories they shared. Teresa grew up in Fernie from the age of 3, graduating from Fernie Secondary school in 1967. Her first job was at the infamous Trites-Woods company working as a grocery clerk. After graduation she embarked on a 30-year career with CIBC, taking on many different roles.
After her three children were born Teresa took a step back to focus on her kids and family. In 1996 Teresa embarked on a new journey moving to Cranbrook to start over, after a few years of heartbreak and struggle she found her final and most fulfilling career at Nutter's Bulk & Natural Foods. She would say how much she loved working with the people there, "They are all so good to me" she started taking courses on wellness and alternative health products and began advancing herself, she absolutely loved helping people and having them come back to see her. She loved her workmates and her customers, and how different it was than banking, "nobody comes to the bank happy to pay bills!" She was cheeky, funny and friendly all at the same time, people loved her.
In April of 2023 she retired from Nutter's and embarked on a new, but short journey to Castlegar for her retirement and to be closer to family and grandchildren. She was happy there. She loved her place and seeing family on a regular basis. She loved when Shannon came to cut her hair. Loved going to Barry's for big events and leaving early and leaving the mess! In her younger days, Teresa used to love hosting family for Holidays and Sunday dinners, she cooked for a crowd, no-one would ever go hungry. She loved summers at Wasa Lake and over the years hosted countless friends and family there, she made entertaining look effortless.
Teresa was an 80's super-mom, she worked full time, had dinner on the table every night and kept a spotless home. She fought fiercely for her children, making sure they were raised right and well taken care of, she was a dedicated hockey mom and never missed a game. Didn't matter what her kids needed if she could make it happen, she would. With the heaviest of hearts, we bid adieu to Teresa Catherine Moore. "she was a tapestry of life's richest threads, her laughter was a balm to the weary, her presence a light in the gloom, in every gesture of kindness, in every shared jest, her spirit shone through, to have known her was to have known the warmth of the sun, the steadfastness of the earth, and the gentle caress of a soothing breeze."
