Hard working hands now rest ...

It is with deepest sadness the family of Syd Fletcher announces his passing on December 28, 2017, at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Syd was known throughout the Kootenays for his work in the construction industry. He was an accomplished woodworker who was never happier than when in his shop, where he made many pieces of fine oak furniture.

Syd had his private pilot's license, and spent many enjoyable hours 'in the air.'  He worked for 12 years with the RCMP as an Auxiliary Constable, a service in which he took great pride.

Syd is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Nancy; daughter Sarah Kennedy (Sean); and son Dustin Fletcher (Jeanie); little grandsons William, Logan and Ethan Fletcher; and a little Kennedy granddaughter 'on the way.'

Syd is also survived by his estranged children of a previous marriage Kevin; Lori; Shauna and Kelly - with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

There will be no service at Syd's request.

It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone. A part of us went with you the day God took you home.
