January 9, 1944 - June 30, 2019
The family announces the passing of Salah on June 30, 2019 in Cranbrook.
Salah Bouzaara was born January 9, 1944 in Hammamet, Tunisia. He moved to Italy as a teenager to gain education in the hospitality industry.
In 1967 Salah relocated to Germany later meeting and marrying Kathleen Boyle. The couple moved to Canada in February 1974.
During Christmas in 1974, Salah and Kathy came to Cranbrook with their newborn son Sascha. At the end of the holidays Salah decided to make his home in Cranbrook. In 1978 he welcomed his second son Ned to the family.
For the next 18 summers he ran a family business at Fort Steele's Tea Room. Outside of his two boys, his greatest pride was running the Tea Room and serving customers. His culinary delights could be found whenever you went to his home for a meal.
In 2010 Salah started wintering in Germany and Tunisia enjoying his family culture while taking in the lovely climates. Through all his travels he learned numerous languages including English, French, Arabic, German, Italian and Spanish. If asked Salah would have said his favorite pass time was watching his grandchildren growing up, watching soccer and visiting with his sons.
He was predeceased by his parents Ben Blegasem Bouzaara and Fatima Turkia. Salah was survived by sons Sascha (Laurel) and Ned (Melissa) and grandchildren Fynn and Micah Bouzaara. He will be cherished by the Cranbrook community, family and friends.
