With great sadness we announce that Marie passed away peacefully at home on Sunday February 7th, 2021.
Born in Elva, Manitoba on June 30th, 1936, Marie was the youngest child of Oscar and Gertrude Christianson. Marie was raised in Elva, where she met and married Dale Eldred in 1957.
In 1964, they moved to Cranbrook, B.C., with their two young sons.
Marie was a long-time employee of the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce on Baker Street. She retired in 1991 and continued lifelong friendships with some of her coworkers.
Marie enjoyed reading, gardening and walks with her dog Maggie, who was her companion for the last 13 years. She was an avid hockey fan and had season tickets to the Kootenay Ice for many years.
Family was so important to Marie and she was known for her love of cooking big dinners for everyone in her cozy kitchen. So many wonderful memories for all.
Marie will be remembered as a generous, kind-hearted person, who went out of her way to enhance the lives of her family, friends, and neighbours.
She is survived by her sons Dean (Diane) and Randy (Donna), as well as her grandchildren and their families: Shauna (Matt), Carter and Cooper Carson; Leanne (Brett), Kenzie and Kohen Olson; Aaron (Carly), Lucas and Jacob Eldred; Paige (Joe), Emily, Brynlee, and Tyan Brons; Kalee (Cody) and Brooklynn Swanson; Karlee (Joey) and Tate Leach. Nan will forever be remembered in their hearts.
Marie was predeceased by her husband Dale in 1995, her four siblings and her parents.
A Celebration of Life may be arranged for a future date when it is safe to do so. Interment at Westlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cranbrook branch of the BC SPCA.
