With great sadness the family of Monica Eva Elaine Haugen announces her passing on May 4th, 2019.
Monica was born to Tom and Alice Ballendine on April 29th, 1945 in Battleford Saskatchewan; she was one of 14 children. Monica married Hans Haugen on June 1st, 1963. Monica and Hans had five beautiful children, sadly their first son passing days after birth.
Monica and Hans moved to Wardner BC in 1971 and then to Jaffray in 1975. Monica loved curling, playing baseball, dancing and painting as well as enjoying a lot of quality time with her kids and grandkids.
Monica is survived by her husband Hans Haugen of Cranbrook BC, their 2 sons, Hans (Sharon) Haugen of Cranbrook BC, Rolf (Lorilee) Haugen of Lethbridge AB, their 2 daughters, Christine Stanvick of Chilliwack BC, Denise (Lorne) Hutchinson of Fernie BC. Sisters, Joyce (Tom) Krilow of Surrey BC , Dianna Loik of Edmonton AB, Irene (Alvin) Hanson of North Battleford SK, brothers, Gerald (Judith) Ballendine of Victoria BC, Hughie Ballendine of Calgary AB. and 9 wonderful Grandchildren, Tyler, Matthew, Hans, Mystis, Shandele, Coralee, Ryker, Alexius and Dawson, 7 great-grandchildren, Rory, Hayden, Laela, Marissa, William, Finn and Mazeik. 2 step-grandchildren Cody and Seth.
Monica is predeceased by her parents Tom and Alice Ballendine, her son Eric Herman Haugen, sisters Eileen Monroe, Geraldine Arundell, brothers, Vince, Benny, Dwight, Barry, George and Doug Ballendine
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday May 18th, 2019 at 2 pm at the Wardner Community Hall.
