Molly Finch, beloved, long-term resident of Kimberley, Windermere, and Cranbrook, passed away on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at the age of 95.
Born and raised in Bristol, England, Molly married Dr. Peter George Finch in 1947. The couple immigrated to Kimberley, B.C. in August of 1948. They remained In Kimberley through 1984, when they moved their permanent residence to Windermere. Since 2002, the year Peter passed away, Molly has been a resident of Cranbrook.
"Muzz" / "Mum" / Grandma affectionately raised 7 children - Brian Finch (Teresa Rodrigues), Diana Perih (predeceased), Barbara Finch, Mary Chevalier (Philippe), Nancy Finch (Les Chow), David Finch (Janice) and Sandra Martin (Ken) - and glowed with pride whenever she spoke of her 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was a prolific knitter, avid gardener, enjoyed playing duplicate bridge and always shared her home with at least one kitty.
Family and friends remember Molly as cheerful, friendly, opinionated, and down-to-earth. Throughout her life, up to the end, she amazed us all with her incredible memory of family matters and knowledge of her extensive family tree.
Mum's baking expertise is legendary, no doubt honed by keeping 8 other, ravenous mouths satisfied (particularly Dad's!). Treats like chocolate chip cookies, chocolate- coated peanut butter balls, snowballs and moon cookies are often the subject of family conversations even today and her recipes can be found in many of our homes.
We will miss you desperately, Mum. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for everything you have meant, and will continue to mean, to this family.
As requested by Molly, no memorial service is planned. Instead, please pause to remember her and honor her life.
