Marjorie Eileen Marvel (nee Brock)

1927 – 2017

Marjorie Marvel passed away on Saturday, June 3rd, 2017 at

East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook at 89 years of age.

Marge was born on October 12, 1927 in Eureka,

Montana to Albert and Goldie Brock. She was the second

oldest of four children, Myrna, Marge, Donna and Alan

“Bud.”

Marge grew up a country girl on the West Kootenai. Her

life was filled with horseback riding, gardening, canning,

gathering eggs and fishing, which she all loved.

Marge married Fred Marvel from Rexford on June 10,

1946, becoming the wife of a logger and a rancher.

In 1947 Marge and Fred welcomed their first baby boy

Bill followed by a second son Terry in 1953.

In 1968, due to the Libby Dam going in, their ranch

was bought out by the Army Corps of Engineers and

they relocated to Canada. They bought a ranch at Lazy

Lake by Wasa, BC. There they harvested Christmas trees,

raised cattle and Marge tended a large garden. Their log

home had no electricity but Lewis creek ran right through

the property providing all the fishing Marge loved to do.

Upon retiring, they sold the ranch, keeping a small

parcel for their home, shop and chicken coop for Marge’s

beloved chickens.

After losing Fred, her life’s partner of nearly 57 years,

Marge lived the remainder of her years with her beloved

pets and her son Terry nearby.

Marge was predeceased by her husband Fred Marvel,

her brother Bud Brock and her sister Myrna Nicholls.

Marge is survived by her sons Bill (Cathy) Marvel of

Rexford, MT and Terry (Dixie) Marvel of Wasa, BC, her

sister Donna Swanson of Plains, MT, grandchildren

Tammy, Kyla, Monica, Anna, Stephanie and Dean, ten

great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews,

relatives and friends.

Marge was dearly loved and will be missed by all.

A celebration of Marge’s life will be held on Saturday,

June 24, 2017 at 1:00 pm at the Wasa Hall. Marge was

interred in the Eureka Cemetery in Montana on Saturday,

June 10, 2017.
