CRAWFORD, Marjorie Joyce

1927 – 2016

Marjorie Joyce Crawford passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at the age of 88 years. Marjorie was born on May 5, 1927 in Brighton, Sussex England. She married Earle Crawford on April 27, 1945 and they were blessed with three sons and two daughters.

Marjorie came to Canada to join her new husband after the Second World War ended. Marjorie and Earle were married in Brighton, England and she came to her new country as a war bride. Hew new life was on a small homestead near Ste. Rose Du Lac, Manitoba. Soon their daughter Marilyn was born, followed by Keith. After moving to Neepawa, Manitoba their family grew to include Melvyn, Deborah and Kevin. The family finally settled in Brandon, Manitoba. Marjorie moved to British Columbia after Earle passed away. She lived in Riondel first and then settled in Cranbrook, closer to her family. Marjorie loved to keep busy crocheting and created beautiful handiwork. Her tablecloths and doilies won red ribbons in many craft bazaars. Over the past several years, her time was spent creating afghans and toques which were donated the poor and homeless. She was also active in the New Apostolic Church and was known as Grandma to many of the children. Marjorie will be missed by her children; Marilyn Mauthe of Cranbrook, Keith (Dora) of Medicine Hat, Alberta, Deborah (Larry) Friesen of Sparwood and Kevin (Cindy) of Grande Prairie, Alberta. She also leaves 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Marjorie was predeceased by her son Melvyn, husband Earle, son-in-law Charles as well as her siblings in England, Beatty, Ken, June and Brian. Her beloved sisters-in-law, June and Pat Smith as well as many nieces and nephews remain in England. The family would like to thank the Care Aides at Joseph Creek Village for their compassion and care of our Mother. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The New Apostolic Church Canada, 821 – 1st St. S., Cranbrook, BC V1C 6E9.
