Lucille Fugina, 92, passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2014 in Calgary, Alberta. The youngest of six children, Lucille was born in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan on April 29, 1922 to the late Dan and Cordelia Hamilton. Although born on the prairies, Lucille was a Kootenay girl through and through. She had lived in Yahk, Cranbrook, Kimberley and her favorite place of all, Wasa Lake. Trained as a teacher, Lucille taught at TaTa Creek, Victoria and Kimberley and cared deeply for her students. Lucille was married to Joe Fugina and raised their five children in Kimberley. After her retirement from teaching, Lucille built a home at Wasa Lake and lived there for many years before moving to retirement homes in Cranbrook and Calgary, Alberta.

Lucille was a lifelong member of the Catholic church and her faith was very important to her. She loved to read, spend time with her family and her many dear friends, and when the opportunity allowed, travel.

Lucille was predeceased by her parents and all of her siblings. She is survived by her children Anita (Alan) Ure of Golden, Joanne Fugina of Edmonton, Alta., Jim (Andrea) Fugina of Wycliffe, Jerry Fugina of Calgary, Alta., and Marie Glans of Pocotello, Idaho; her seven grandchildren Michelle Ure (Blair Rosequist), Alan (Deanna) Ure, Rilee, Dallas and Bret Glans, and Alexa and Mynoondjie Fugina; and her four great grandchildren Ella and Lola Rosequist and Noah and Ruby Ure and numberous nieces and nephews.

There will be a funeral mass for Lucille in the spring.
