It is with great sadness that the family of Katherine Duchscherer announces her peaceful passing on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at the F. W. Green Memorial Home in Cranbrook at 92 years of age .


Katherine was born on the homestead farm near Fox Valley, Saskatchewan on August 29, 1921. She worked a the Prelate Hospital for many years. This is where she met Alexander Duchscherer. They were married November 9, 1944. They resided in Prelate, Maple Creek, Piapot, Tompkins, Webb and Swift Current. Katherine moved to Cranbrook with her family in 1972, where she remained her until her passing. Katherine was a very happy and dedicated woman and she loved her family very much.


Katherine is survived by her children Josephine (Gordon) of Cranbrook, BC; Ivin (Kathy) of Kimberley, BC; Norman (Brenda) of Medicine Hat, AB; Stan (Nan) of Cranbrook, BC; Brian (Debbie) of Creston, BC; Earl (Terry) of Cranbrook, BC; Shirley (Len) of Cranbrook, BC; and Dale (Arlene) of Cranbrook, BC; son-in-law Andre of Medicine Hat, AB; as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter. She was predeceased by her husband Alex on July 21, 1972 and her daughter Victoria on January 29, 2010.


Prayers with a visitation for Katherine will be held on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at McPherson Funeral Home in Cranbrook at 7:00 pm. A funeral mass for Katherine will be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Cranbrook at 2:00 pm.
