January 15, 1939 - January 15, 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father Karl Richter.
On January 15, 2021, Karl passed away on his 82nd birthday peacefully with his family by his side. He was a loving father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend to many and will be greatly missed.
Karl was born on January 15, 1939 in Lacombe AB to Helen and Frank Richter. The family lived several years on a small farm on Settlers Road near Radium Hot Springs (known as the Old Richter Homestead) before moving to Invermere where Karl grew up with his two siblings.
In 1962 Karl married his wife Kay and started his own family beginning in Creston and then moving to Wasa Lake where he raised his family and worked at the Skookumchuck Pulp Mill until he retired after 32 years.
Karl treasured the outdoors and spent much of his time fishing, hunting, and camping with his family and friends. One of his most cherished passions was spending time working on his Christmas Tree Permit where he requested to be his final resting place.
Karl leaves behind his loving children, son Curtis (Sonya) and his daughter Carrie, three grandchildren, Austin, Jason and Samantha, his sisters Sanda Taylor (Joe), and Diana Custaloe along with one niece and three nephew's.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the Cranbrook Regional Hospital and provided health services for their kindness shown to both Karl and his family. As per Karl's wishes, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Canadian Lung Association.
