It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Karl Andrew Valin on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook at the age of 85.

Scotty was born in Brownvale, Alberta on February 24, 1932. He moved to BC as a young man where he pursued many careers in his 55 years of employment which included trucking, logging and finally 30 years of running heavy equipment for Cominco in Kimberley. Scotty was married to his loving wife Dorothy for 51 years. Their family grew to include two sons and three daughters. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, playing his guitar and spending time with his family.

Scotty leaves to mourn his passing his wife Dorothy, sons David (Bev) Gordon and Kevin (Lori) Valin, his daughters Kathy (Gary) Salvador and Debbie (Bill) Muir, his son-in-law Steve MacKay, four brothers Clff Valin, Elmer (Betty) Valin, Dale (Doris) Valin and Wayne (Dorothy) Valin, two sisters Doreen Laye and Frieda (Bob) Allen, nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his daughter Dianna MacKay, his brother Stuart Valin and his parents Andrew and Vera Valin.

Scotty will be forever in our hearts. A celebration of Scotty's life will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 2:00 pm at McPherson Funeral Home in Kimberley.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Scotty's honour can be made to the: Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, BC & Yukon Division, #1103, 4720 - Kingsway, Burnaby, British Columbia, V5H 4N2 or the charity of your choice.
