Josephine preferred the less formal name Jo. She was born in Taber, AB and lived most of her adult life in Cranbrook, BC.
Jo married Patrick Cavelle and they raised six children together. Jo was very active throughout her life and had good business acumen, which she used to help her co-workers, when she was a representative for the Hospital Employees Union (HEU), while working at the hospital in Cranbrook for many years.
Later in life, Jo married Buster Brown, moved to Fort Macleod and at the age of 65 started a carpet and linoleum store which she ran as a viable business.
Jo and Buster also owned an exotic ranch, raised cattle, horses, miniature donkey's, wild boars, llamas, ostriches, emus, cockatoos, cockatiels, peacocks, numerous exotic pheasants and other bird species. Jo was known as the bird lady in Fort Macleod and enjoyed providing tours through their exotic ranch for school children. She loved to travel, was fun to be around and had a great sense of humour.
Jo is survived by her children Terry and Jackie, Dulaine and Terry, Gene and Ruth, Kimberly and Cam, Dean, and daughter-in-law Brenda Polutnik, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her sister Gwen (Gary) Kerkhoff and her brother Bruce (Jill) Cavelle.
Jo was predeceased by her mother Mary Cavelle, her father Joseph Paulette, her son Rodney Cavelle, her step-father Albert Cavelle, her husband Patrick Cavelle, her 2nd husband Buster Brown, her brother Robert Paulette, her sister Pauline Currie and her brother Gary Paulette.
A service will be held for Jo in Fort Macleod, AB at a later date to be announced.
Rest in peace mom. To be loved is good, to be understood is profound. You were both loved and understood; you will be in our hearts forever.
