John Hartley MacInnes

May 27, 1934 – July 7, 2017

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Hartley MacInnes, on Friday, July 7, 2017.

From the time of his birth in Vancouver, British Columbia, on May 27, 1934, to July 7, 2017, he was a brilliant,

honourable, proud man with a great sense of humour.

John was the eldest of two brothers. John married his best friend Norma Reilly, on April 27, 1957, in Vancouver, British Columbia. During their marriage over the last sixty years, John was devoted to his wife, Norma.

Left to honour John and remember his love are

his wife Norma, and their three children: Toni (Ken);

Chris (David); Dana (Odis); four grandchildren: Todd

(Maria); Tyler (Theresa); Chris (Allison); Kayla (Steve);

four great-grandchildren: Lucan & Jade; Jackson &

Bennett. He was predeceased by his mother, Gladys

MacInnes.

John’s work ethic was impeccable. The reality is, one of the things that John loved in life was a good glass of scotch. In the late 1990’s, he retired and started volunteering to drive for the Canadian Cancer Society. A few years ago, the Canadian Cancer Society ended their driving program. In order to answer the needs of cancer patients, John and other great men and women created the Volunteer Cancer Drivers Society.

A celebration of John’s life will be held on Saturday, July

15, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at Precious Blood Parish, 17475-

59th Avenue, Surrey, British Columbia. In lieu of

flowers, please make donations to the Volunteer Cancer

Drivers Society; volunteercancerdrivers.ca. There will

be a celebration of John’s life with his family and friends

following the service.
