It is with great sadness the family of John A Smitna announces his passing on March 10, 2021, with his loving family at his side.
Born in Nanaimo, B.C., on May 28, 1947 to John A and Elizabeth Smitna. Later the family moved to Fernie, B.C., where he grew up.
John worked for various sawmill companies in Elko, B.C., for over 40 years, until he retired. He met and married his wife Carol, they celebrated 51 years of marriage. John and Carol had two sons, Trever Dean John, and John Andrew Martin.
John enjoyed many years of hunting, fishing, and camping with friends and family.
He was predeceased by his father John, mother Elizabeth, sister Irene and brother Roy.
John is survived by his wife Carol, sons Trevor (Brendan), John (Leslie) and his special granddaughter Madison, several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
In honouring John’s wishes, there will be no services.
