John Remington Emery
April 15, 1933 - Nov 15, 2022
John was born in London, England, and immigrated to Victoria, BC, in 1948. After service in the Air Force, he earned an engineering degree at UBC. In Victoria, he met Joanna, the love of his life. Joanna was born in Banff, AB and grew up in Fort Steele. She attended nursing school in Victoria and completed a master's at the University of Ottawa. Together, they moved east across the country for work and back to the west again for retirement. They retired to Fort Steele in 1993 and ran the very successful Emery's Mountain View B& B. They loved their retirement nestled in the mountains.
John and Joanna, a couple deeply in love, shared nearly 66 years of marriage. They were blessed with 3 wonderful children- Susan (Jaime) , David (Clare) , and Hope (Andy). Their joy knew no bounds as they watched their family grow, with 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Their love and devotion to their family was unwavering and remains a testament to their beautiful bond.
John and Joanna were not just members, but pillars of Christ's Church in Cranbrook. Their devout faith and warm personalities endeared them to many, and they had a wide circle of friends and extended family in the Fort Steele/Cranbrook area. Their active involvement in the community kept them young at heart and deeply connected to the people around them.
A church service will be held at Christ's Church on October 5th at 1 p.m. The interment will take place in July when more family members can attend.
