In Loving Memory ~

At 97 years, Summerland resident, Janice ("Jan") Josephson passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones on February 27, 2024.

Jan was predeceased by her loving husband Bert, in July 2010.

Jan was raised with 9 siblings on an isolated cattle ranch near Vanderhoof, BC. After studying hairdressing, Jan met Bert in Merritt, where she and a friend had a beauty salon.

Jan and Bert were pioneer residents of the West Bench in Penticton. They then moved to Cranbrook when Bert was transferred with the C.P.R. Bert and Jan were residents of Cranbrook from 1970 to 1985. They loved living in the East Kootenays.

With Bert alongside her, Jan was a dynamic community volunteer in Cranbrook and Penticton. These activities included canvassing door to door for the Canadian Cancer Society and Heart & Stroke Foundation for 35 years (until 2011); delivering Meals on Wheels; and actively participating in charitable events with the Royal Canadian Legion for many years.

Jan loved curling and cross-country skiing. In 1997, she and Bert were honoured for their service when they became Honorary Lifetime Members of the Summerland Curling Club.

There was nothing better for Jan than to have her family and friends around the table for dinner. She enjoyed making new friends in her community activities.

Jan will be missed by many, especially her family: children, Trevor (Larisa), Roy (Sheila), Vicky, and extended family.

It was Jan's request to be cremated.
