November 23, 2018
The family of (James) Clark Purvis wishes to announce that he passed away on November 23, 2018. Clark was born on May 19, 1927 in Yorkton, SK but lived in the East Kootenays for most of his life. He attended college in Olds, AB and studied agriculture.

In 1948 he and his wife bought a farm on the Bull River Road where they raised cattle until 1974 when they sold much of the property. At this time they began to travel, and enjoyed exploring Arizona during winter months. Clark was employed as caretaker in local Provincial Parks during the summer for 15 years before officially retiring.

Clark always stressed the importance of family and kept in touch with his large number of relatives. He was thrilled with the arrival of every new family member, he was amazed by how quickly the children grew up, and he often shook his head in wonder at the far-away places some of his family have travelled to visit or to live. We certainly miss his emails and Skype calls. We wish to thank everyone who visited Clark, sent letters, cards, photos and gifts to cheer him up; he appreciated your thoughtfulness.

Clark is survived by his wife Margaret Sullivan Purvis; sisters Zo Jonasen and Grace Purjue; 5 children, Linda (Mike), Alan (Terry), Rick (Rhodea), Terry (Dave), and Pat (Rob); 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and stepson Donald. He was predeceased by his wife Margaret Eleanor Purvis, his brother Bill Purvis, granddaughter Jennifer Norstrom and great granddaughter Charlotte Amsing.

Celebration of Life will be held May 18th, 2019, 2 pm at McPherson's Funeral Service Cranbrook. Reception to follow in the hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are welcome and can be sent to East Kootenay Foundation for Health (13 - 24 Ave North, Cranbrook, BC V1C 3H9) or to a charity of your choice.
