Henry Smith McNair

1934 – 2016


It is with deep sorrow that the family of Henry S. McNair announces his passing on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook.

Henry was born on August 17, 1934 in Penticton, BC. He was a Royal Marine Veteran/UK, a Journeyman carpenter by trade and jack of all trades. His hobbies were gardening, reading, music, movies, telling funny stories and spending time with family and friends.

Henry is survived by his wife Joyce M. McNair (nee Moisson) of Kimberley, BC; daughters Catherine E. McNair of Kimberley, BC and Heather C. Schneider (Adam) and children Carrigen and Ronan of Vulcan, AB; brothers-in-law Don Moisson and Ron Moisson of Williams Lake, BC; sister and brother in-law Doris (nee Moisson) and Tony Panylyk of Kimberley, BC; sister-in-law Darlene Moisson of Cranbrook, BC, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Henry was predeceased by his parents John (Charlotte) McNair of Aberdeen, Scotland; father and mother in-law, John (Evangeline) Moisson of Meadowbrook/Kimberley, BC; sisters Jean McNair, Margaret Marshall and Jean Ewen from Aberdeen/Stonehaven, Scotland; Charlotte “Lottie” (Norman) Doerfler of Okanagan Falls, BC and his brother Matthew McNair of Okanagan Falls, BC.

A private celebration of Henry’s life will be held at a later date. Donations in honour of Henry can be made to the Kimberley Helping Hands Food Bank Society, 340 - Leadenhall Street, Kimberley, British Columbia, V1A 2R6.
