Hazel was born in Eastend Saskatchewan. Her parents were Ernest and Mary Henry and she came from a family of 10 brothers and sisters.
She married Alfonso Bertoia on June 25, 1960.
Hazel achieved her Licensed Practical Nursing from St.Eugene Hospital in April of 1967 where she then worked for several years.
She loved to sew, cook, play the piano (self taught), sing (church choir) and was a graceful dancer.
Hazel is survived by her daughter Donna (Randy) Eldred, and their families Aaron (Carly-Jo), Lucas and Jacob, Paige (Joe), Emily, Brynlee and Tyan, Karlee (Joey), Tate and Drew, Kalee (Cody), Brooklynn and Bo, daughter Diana (Mike) Smedstad, Benjamin and Jessie.
She was predeceased by her parents and six of her siblings. There will be a private gathering to honour her memory.
Hazel passed away at the Inglewood Care Centre in West Vancouver where she was shown kindness and given great care from the staff.
She was a loving mother and adored by her six grand-children. She has left us but will never be forgotten. May our dear, sweet mother, grand-mother, and great-grandmother rest in peace in "the green, green grass of home".
