November 22, 1936 - September 20, 2019
Grace Ivers passed away peacefully in Invermere on September 20, 2019 with family members at her side. Grace was born in Moose Jaw Saskatchewan to George and Fanny Stevenson on November 22, 1936. She will be dearly remembered by Edward, her husband of 63 years; her sons Jordan, Darrell and Scott; grandchildren Dana, Jaqueline, Daniel and Nicole.
Grace was an artist and creator at heart. She started painting and playing music as a child, inspired and taught by her mother. She continued to learn on her own until she had the opportunity to attend painting classes at the Banff School of Fine Arts in 1967.
Grace moved to Calgary in 1969 where she put the paints away and took up pottery. Another move to Fairmont Hot Springs 10 years later, and Grace helped to create the Fairmont Arts and Craft Guild. Upon retiring to Cranbrook in 2005, Grace went back to her canvasses and took great pleasure in painting when and what she wanted. Always inspired by mountains and trees, you will find them in the majority of her paintings and pottery.
Grace was a lady that always told you what she thought, always included others and encouraged people to participate, and always found something to laugh about no matter the situation.
On Grace's request there will be no public service. The family asks those who knew Grace to honour her memory in your own way.
