Gordon the beloved husband of Gladys passed away in Cranbrook, BC on Friday, March 8, 2019 at 75 years of age. He is survived by his son Douglas of Cranbrook and daughter Debra (Dave) of Cranbrook, his brothers Emery (Fern) and Norman all of Lethbridge, his sister Grace Slemko of Calgary, along with many nieces and nephews.
Gordon was predeceased by his parents Millard and Mary Field and his sisters Betty Field and Connie Venables, all of Lethbridge, his in-laws William and Gladys Mervyn and brothers- in-law Clayton and Al Mervyn, all of Lethbridge.
Gordon was a perfectionist, in his career of an upholsterer, working for Bastedo Upholstery in Lethbridge for 13 years specializing in antique vehicles before moving to Cranbrook to own his own business in 1972. In 1979, wanting a change, he became a truck driver, driving what he called his "Bomb" for Canadian Propane, thanks to his dear friend Wayne Wills.
He absolutely loved his job, being out in the fresh mountain air and scenery of the Kootenay's. Gordon lived in the Gold Creek area with his family for the last 28 years; along with horses, a llama, pygmy goats, cats, dogs and with his daughters very special little noodle (Doxie) "Sayda", and the many deer that roamed the acreage.
As per Gordon's request there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers those wishing to donate can do so to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 24, 803 - Cranbrook Street North, Cranbrook, British Columbia, V1C 3S2 where he was a long time member; or the East Kootenay Regional Hospital, 13 - 24th Avenue North, Cranbrook, British Columbia, V1C 3H9 c/o the Cranbrook Ambulance Service or EKRH - Emergency Services or the EKRH - Intensive Care Unit; or the East Kootenay S.P.C.A., PO Box 2, Cranbrook, British Columbia, V1C 4H6 in honour of his little Shih Tzu rescue "Cricket".
