Frank Pohl, born in Miletics, Yugoslavia on March 1, 1925, passed away peacefully in Kimberley, BC on Sunday, December 29, 2013 at the age of 88 in the company of his wife and daughter.


Frank was a well known figure in the City of Kimberley having arrived there in the late 1940’s from Alberta, where he was raised. He was employed in Kimberley by the mine and Spic and Span Dry Cleaning before going to work for BC Hydro. He was active from the early 1950’s in the Fraternal Order Of Eagles, the Moose Lodge and the Royal Canadian Legion while also volunteering with the Kimberley Knights Junior Hockey Team.


After retiring, Frank continued his volunteer work with the BC Hydro Power Pioneers, the Canadian Diabetes Association and the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Through this work he helped fund many important community organizations. He will be missed by many.


Frank was predeceased by his mother, father and two brothers Emerih and Leo. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Caterina “Katie”, his children Louise, Frances, David and Toni, his brother Jake, sister Magdalena “Peggy”, sister-in-law Marie and many cousins, nephews and nieces.


A memorial service for Frank will be held in the downstairs hall at Centre 64, 64 - Deer Park Avenue in Kimberley on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 1:00 pm with a reception to follow.
