Francesco Piccioni

October 26, 2018

May 26, 1939 - October 26, 2018
Francesco, beloved husband of Geraldine (Gerry) passed away in Nanaimo Regional General Hospital, after a long struggle with illnesses.

Francesco (Frank) was born in Montreal, Quebec, of parents Angelina and Giovanni, who immigrated to Canada from Italy. He had four siblings, Anna, Rosa (deceased), Dan (deceased), and Albert.

He was in the Canadian Army and the Royal Canadian Air Force where he worked as an Airborne Electronic Technician. After release from the forces, he owned electronics businesses in Ontario and Quebec until retirement. Frank married Gerry at Lillooet, B.C. where they resided. They moved to Sayward, B.C. to boat and fish together and later to Nanaimo.

Frank was an avid ocean fisherman and boatman, also teaching boat captains navigation and safety at night school. He was a member of the Cranbrook Fraternal Order of Eagles, and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for almost fifty years.

Frank was ambitious, a perfectionist, inventive, active in sports in early life, affectionate and generous, with great compassion for the unfortunate. He loved to make people laugh. His interest in electronics and technology carried on in his hobbies. He was a fine singer. His widow will forever love and miss this wonderful man, who gave her joy, comfort, peace and love throughout their lives together.

Enormous gratitude is owed to VIHA and NRGH, Veterans Affairs and the Royal Canadian Legion for the wonderful care they gave Frank.
