1929-2021 ~ Evelyn Martha Frost of Sherwood Park AB, passed away peacefully on Feb 17, 2021 at the Royal Alexandria hospital in Edmonton AB.
Evelyn was born in Swift Current Sask to Elizabeth and Carl Oakley and at 91, was the last survivor of 7 children.
The family had a homestead in Vanguard Saskatchewan and moved to Cranbrook in the mid 1930's, where Evelyn spent most of her life. She worked as a nurse's aide at the old Cranbrook hospital until she met and married her husband in 1952. After raising her family, she worked at the Towne & Country along with her sisters Ann and Verna.
Evelyn loved to travel and her most memorable trips were to Australia & New Zealand, a trip to Europe to cheer on her grandson during a hockey tournament and travelling throughout the United States with her husband when he worked as a truck driver.
As the oldest living member of the Oakley family, she had an incredible memory of our family history and would share memories and stories of the past.
Evelyn was predeceased by her husband Phil of 61 years (2013) and her youngest son Philip (1993)
She will be forever missed by her children, Debbie Dewar of Calgary AB, Jim (Brenda) Frost of Ardrossan AB and Lori Stark of Kamloops BC.
Grandchildren, Shauna, Jordan, Bryan, Jennifer and Eric along with 7 Great Grandchildren as well as numerous nieces & nephews.
We are most grateful to the staff at the Royal Alexandria hospital for their compassionate care and for allowing family to be by her side during her final days.
Internment will take place in the Westlawn Cemetery, at a later date.
