In Loving Memory ~

Elmer Higgins of Cranbrook, BC passed away in Calgary, Alberta on April 8, 2024, at the age of 92.

Born in Kamloops, Elmer attended UBC where he graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He was a member of the BC Professional Engineers for 50 years and found great joy in volunteering with various organizations.

He was particularly proud of his work on the Cranbrook Hospital Board, the Cranbrook Public library renovation and the Cranbrook Arches project. He was recognized in 2012 with the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal for his volunteer work.

Throughout his life, Elmer had a passion for woodwork and spent many hours in his workshop creating and sharing beautiful turnings that he was nationally recognized for.

Elmer will be deeply missed by his family.

He was predeceased by his wife Catharine, and is survived by children Cate (Peter), Andrew (Jody), and grandchildren Benjamin, Patrick, Rebecca, and Ciara.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday May 11th from 2:00 - 4:00 pm at the Prestige Rocky Mountain Resort (209 Van Horne St. S.). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Friends of the Cranbrook Public Library. Elmer's family would like to thank Dr. Lenz and Dr. Post for Elmer's care.

Elmer will be most remembered for his dedication to his family, his love for woodworking, and his strong work ethic.

He will be deeply missed

by all who knew him.
