August 24, 1942 - July 6, 2018
It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of Don King.

Don was born in Victoria to Leslie and Synnerva and spent his youth enjoying all that coastal living had to offer. Don joined the bank and was transferred to various posts before settling in the Kootenays. He was a volunteer fire fighter and ambulance driver, becoming a full time fire fighter in 1977.

Over the years his many volunteer roles enhanced our community. He was treasurer for the Senior Citizens Association for 26 years and the Ambulance Association for 16. He served 6 years as a Director of the Credit Union and held positions within the Independent Order of Foresters. Playing the piano was part of his life and for 33 years he played weekly for seniors at Rocky Mountain Lodge, the FW Green Home and for Joseph Creek Village.

Don enjoyed many outdoor sports but riding his horse was by far his favorite. Family was very important to him, especially his grandchildren. He will be forever remembered for his big heart and warm smile.

Don is survived by his mother Synnerva, his loving wife Trudy, daughter Tracy (Claus), son Todd (Tina), grandchildren Rebecca, Mark, Ella and Samantha, brother Alton (Wendy) and sister in law Valerie. Don was predeceased by his father Leslie, brother Glenn, sister-in-law Nan and her husband Ron.

A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at the Cranbrook Alliance Church, 1200 Kootenay Street North. Any memorial donations may be forwarded to Myeloma Canada, 1255 TransCanada, Suite 160, Dorval, QC, H9P 2V4.
