May 11, 2021
It is with heartfelt sadness that the family of Daryl Lorne Wert announce his peaceful passing on May 11, 2021 at the age of 83.
Anyone who knew Daryl, saw him with his loyal canine companion, Whiskey. As an avid sherman, hunter, hiker, and photographer, no one knew the East Kootenays as well as Daryl. He was dedicated to sharing this love with his family, friends, and anyone who wanted to learn.
He was a passionate conservationist as well, volunteering many hours with Ducks Unlimited.
In his retirement years, Daryl travelled to Arizona with his wife of 51 years exploring the many trails and mountains around Yuma. At 73 he proved there is no age limit to hiking the Grand Canyon as he trekked to the bottom and then made his way back up with only a sleeping bag, nourishment, and water.
Daryl leaves to mourn his wife Joan, children Colleen (Gordon) Holden, Dallas Wert, Brent (Collette) Dauphinais, David Wert, Wanda (Steve) Anton and Travis (Marla) Wert. His grandchildren Jessica, Shanelle, Ashlee, Andrew, Kyra, Jordan, Mathew and Haley and great grandson Solomon, siblings Wayne Wert, Terry (Louise) Wert, Trina (Alvin) Johnston as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Lorne and Jean Wert, sister Marilyn La eur and her husband Jeff, and daughter Jacqueline Dauphinais.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the BC Wildlife Federation. There will not be a service, but he would encourage you to lift a cup of Tim's in his memory.
Arrangements entrusted to McPherson Funeral Services.
