Mrs. Blanche Hay of Kimberley, BC passed away peacefully at “The Pines Care Home” on Monday, January 9, 2017 at the age of 97. Born Blanche Dakin on September

28, 1919 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, she married her loving husband, George Hay, in 1942. She moved to Kimberley with George and her two eldest children 70 years ago and it was there they raised their family. She was a devoted mother and homemaker. Blanche loved to garden and cook, and was an amazing seamstress and knitter. Together with George she enjoyed camping, fishing, bowling

and traveling. Blanche will be greatly missed by her children Brian Hay of

Kimberley, Sandra Hay of Prince George, Deanna (Don) Matthews of Cranbrook and Kathy Wajda (Curt Schultz) of Calgary, Alberta. Also left to mourn are five grandchildren Greg Hay (Tracy Kelly), Melissa Matthews, Natalie Matthews, Davis

Wajda and Ben Wajda, as well as two great grandchildren Greyson and Braia Hay. Blanche also leaves several nieces

and nephews and her sister-in-law Agnes Hay. Blanche was predeceased by her husband George and daughter Bonita, her daughter-in-law Donna Hay, her parents Charles and Hilda Dakin, her brother Arthur Dakin and sister Irene Cringan. A very special thank you to the staff of Kimbrook Manor and the Kimberley Special Care Home for their loving care of Blanche.

A family celebration of life will be held at a later date in honour of Blanche. Those wishing to remember Blanche can make a donation to: The Pines Memorial and Development Society,
