Bev was born in Kincaid, Saskatchewan of parents with Scottish and Norwegian roots. She and her brother and sister were raised on their family farm in Mankota, Saskatchewan, and went to high school in Assiniboia. She then went to Moose Jaw where she studied nursing at Providence Hospital, since demolished.

As an R.N. Bev commenced work in Weyburn, and after a few years there she moved to the hospital in Uranium City where she met her husband to be, David, who worked in the Eldorado uranium mine. Some years later, in 1968, Bev married David in Langley, BC, where they lived while he studied at BCIT and she worked at the Langley hospital. Upon his graduation in 1970 they moved to Kimberley where Bev worked for a while in the hospital there, and David worked as a surveyor for Cominco at the Sullivan Mine and, briefly, in Greenland.

In 1974 Bev and David bought a lot in Cranbrook, and built a house on it which they have occupied since. Meanwhile Dave took a job as Operations Manager at Fort Steele Heritage Town. Due to her ongoing health problems Bev did not resume nursing. She did however enjoy needlework, gardening, cards, and her piano. With only a very basic piano course as a kid in school, she persevered in practice until she could play a number of popular tunes, notably Scott Joplin's "Entertainer".

Bev suffered from serious depression since her late teens, and it may well have been the drugs prescribed to deal with this that eventually led to her death on Friday, January 12, 2018 at 78 years of age from liver cancer.

Bev did not want a funeral, insisting that instead the cost should be donated to the: Lookout Foundation, 544 - Columbia Street, New Westminster, BC, V3L 1B1 for the purpose of research into Mood Disorders.

Because of her medical difficulties Bev had no children of her own, and her parents and sibling have all passed on; however, various nephews and nieces were regular and welcome visitors. She also enjoyed other family and friends, who will surely miss their visits and periodic phone conversations.
