Arlene Jean Macdonald

June 24, 2022

October 2, 1939 - June 24, 2022
In loving memory ~
During the late evening hours of Friday, June 24, 2022 Arlene Jean Macdonald passed away at Kootenay Street Village in Cranbrook at the age of 82 years. Arlene was born in Edmonton, Alberta on October 2, 1939 to Doug and Elsie Holloway.
Arlene spent many years of service working with the BC Fish and Wildlife Service. She enjoyed spending time in the outdoors camping and watching wildlife. Her many hobbies included quilting, sewing, gardening, baking, cooking and canning. Arlene also loved to play cards, especially cribbage with family and friends. She enjoyed watching the many birds, deer and various other wildlife from the big dining room window in her home as well as on her deck. She would greet them all with a wave and "Hello" and even asked Ole to lower the doorbell at the back door so the ducks could reach it when it was time for a treat. Arlene spent time with the Pony Racers as a timer and line judge in the years she and Ole spent travelling to different racing events.
Arlene was a member of several different clubs in town including the Scandinavians of East Kootenay, Floor Curlers, Ducks Unlimited, BC Government Retired Employees and the Mission Hills Senior Ladies Golf League.
Arlene leaves to mourn her passing her beloved husband, Ole Haugaard; two sons Craig (Lylla) Macdonald and Kevin (Ann) Macdonald and her one daughter Shelley (Cary) Ingram. Also left behind are her two brothers Doug (Cathy) Holloway and Donald Holloway. Arlene was predeceased by her parents Douglas and Elsie Holloway, her sisters Grace and Joan and one sister-in-law Caroline.
