June 20, 1946 - January 29, 2020
Albert George Bohmer born in Hillcrest Alberta on July 20th, 1946, passed away peacefully at the age of 73 in Cranbrook, BC on January 29th, 2020.
Albert was a proud father and grandfather and a good friend to many. He lived on the hill above Idlewild Park for the past 40-years, where he loved to ride his horses, garden, and watch the Blue Jays games on his big TV. He loved hosting visitors in Cranbrook in the summer and Arizona in the winter and never hesitated to offer them a beer or two and a bed to sleep in.
Albert was a 50-year member of the Ironworkers Local 97 and had worked on many of the major building projects in British Columbia, including dams, bridges, hospitals, mines, and condominiums. He took great pride in his work and would often tell stories about the jobs he worked on and the people he worked with.
Albert is survived by his three children, Clayton (Elaine) Bohmer of Lethbridge, AB, Lori (Keith) Jackman of Vernon, BC, and Darrell (Shona) Bohmer of Cranbrook, BC and six grandchildren, Kyla Bohmer, Riley Reel, Emily Bohmer, Dylan Bohmer, Halee Bohmer, and Mya Jackman.
Albert's extended family both predeceased and surviving are too numerous to list, but we would like to extend our deepest thanks to his nephew Dale Bohmer. Dale lived with Albert for the past 15-years as a friend and his unofficial caretaker enabling him to stay at home until the end.
The Bohmer family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of the East Kootenay Regional Hospital and in particular the nurses of the ICU for their compassion and exceptional care.
Please join us in celebrating the life of Albert George Bohmer. We look forward to seeing everyone and hearing their stories. We know there will be many laughs and tears as we reminisce on Albert's wild ride.
